Online Cinema: Far From Home

This short film stood out to me due to the strong cinematography and messages displayed. The use of naturalistic performances, lack of editing and free camera movement allows for a very realistic approach. The contrast in colour and lighting highlights the differing emotions from the happier safe times in the boys lives compared to their present dark unfortunate situation. Although no dialogue is used sound is key to informing us of the narrative as well as creating atmosphere. The short film is well produced, looks professional and even though it appears independent in style there is a clear sense of genre.

300 WORD - attracted you to the BA(HONS) filmmaking course

I was attracted at the thought of studying BA(HONS) Filmmaking course at Manchester Metropolitan University from the moment I read the course description. The course offers me a good chance where I can use the knowledge of my filmmaking and expand onto more complex productions. A practical course will definitely strengthen my ways of using the equipment of the professionals, as to working as an individual appose to a group. Although I did not attend the open day, I have researched on the Internet and have read excellent comments of the Filmmaking course.

AS Film Studies: Extract of a film.

This is my AS Film Studies coursework where I took on the role to produce an extract of a film, As I worked on this alone I was in charge of Cinematography, Editing, Sound and Mise-en-scene. Before the production I planned a shot list and a story board to get a visual idea how the shots would flow. I decided to use a vary of shots from a contra zoom to a pan so that I could portray the message more strongly to the audience. I focused alot of my editing too as I tried to apply the codes and conventions from good too bad by using quick editing to slow steady, also the colour from a dark tinge of blue to the warm yellow colours.

The use of ContraZoom

Stalker video

Here is a short film where I worked in a small group at the beginning of year 2 at College. The task was intended to refresh our filmmaking skills. We were all given micro elements to be in charge of and I had the role of the Cinematography and Editing, the films synopsis was about a girl who was stalked from her friends home. Considering on the length of time we were given we put it together quiet well however I can see that the short film was not very professional and I can identify many mistakes and improvements that could be made.

A2 Media Coursework Project

Here is my current A2 Media Studies teaser trailer coursework, working in a pair I am in charge of the cinematography, Editing and Sound. Above first I created an animated storyboard to see the story in order; this was then produced into a moving storyboard so that we could then check if the shot types and length would work especially for the genre. We have now began filming where you can see above the production of the news report where the green screen sit's behind where an edited picture will be positioned to present a professional news report scene when the editing occurs.
